Check and and out were both very quick and efficient. The staff team were all great. Really approachable and responsive to any requests we had as wedding guests. More chairs, no problem, make room for other guests, no problem, don't like the wine, no problem, here, have the one you like!..etc. The staff helped make our families special day memorable for the right reasons. The grade 1 listed imposing building is beautiful, look up at the decorative ceilings! Wooden paneling, original styled windows and large ornate fireplaces, together with well considered furnishings, gave it a grand and somewhat ostentatious feel. The grounds, although in winter season, were still a joy to walk around. Our room was a good size, it was very clean, the beds were comfy. The bathroom has both bath and shower cubicle. There were thick, white fluffy towels and some toiletries for personal use. The room was pretty quiet, apart from a few guests settling down for the night. I noticed out of the window there were charging points for electric vehicles, and a few car parks. Breakfast was buffet style, and the hot breakfast was cooked well. There were cereals, yoghurt, toast, and pastries as well. A choice of tea or coffee and fruit juices to drink. All in all a great stay, I'd recommend it to any one looking to stay in the area.

Everything about the stay was excellent. The room was stunning, well looked after and the best family room we have ever had. The staff were friendly, attentive and went above and beyond. The gentleman at breakfast had set us a table up ready, and really kindly showed us some of the amazing rooms in the hotel near to breakfast we were fascinated and he had so much passion for his work. And the lady who served us, also showed us Queen Mary’s room and others which again was fascinating and we were so grateful. We stumbled on the hotel when looking for nearby accommodation for a family party, and we enjoyed it so much we have already looked for a reason to stay again which we most certainly will. I quite simply couldn’t recommend this hotel and everything that comes with it enough, thank you!

Toni

Nice castle hotel where we had a family room and a double room next to each other on the top floor. The rooms are cozy authentic and have very good beds ! The extra bed is a full bed which was very welcome for our youngest son. Staff is more than correct. We did not know if we were going to be back in time for kitchen closing time in the evening after our Aston Villa match and were allowed to give our choices in advance so everything was ready when we returned. Breakfast is well arranged and has everything needed. Highly recommended if you are in the area or like us going to a soccer match at Aston Villa, with a short Uber ride ideal !

Very friendly and helpful staff, particularly at breakfast. Our initial room had no external window which we couldn't find acceptable so they changed for another without any delay. Long way up to 2nd floor when we first arrived with bags and dog. Staff put us in lift for one floor but despite 3 members of staff standing at reception no one offered to help my 81 year old husband with bags as he had to carry our dashchund. I have slipped disc and osteoporosis so couldn't help. Superb breakfast with extremely helpful, friendly and cheerful staff.

The main building was exceptional, even better than the appearance on the website, and internally it is superb, a fine building updated to a very high standard. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable, particularly in the breakfast dining area. The bedroom in the annexe was big enough and comfortable. The two Indian weddings taking place while we were there did not generally affect our enjoyment of our stay.
